2009 Ford Edge Limited: accelerate..the engine light came..dealership

Resolved Question:

My 2009 Ford Edge Limited "powertrain" light came on and when trying to accelerate away from a light it became very sluggish almost to where it wouldn't move. A few minutes later the engine light came on. I had just driven it away from the dealership so I just drove it back from them to repair. Could you provide information on this issue? And is it common?

Thank you.

Hello Crazy Mark ,

Thanks for coming to Just Answer to ask a question.

How many miles are on this vehicle?

Which lights came on, and which came on first, view below?

23 first then 20

It only has 19 miles on it

The wrench light 99% of the time comes on from a concern with the electronic throttle body. Once it illuminates it then will cause the engine light to come on. No its not common for this issue especially on a vehicle under 20 miles. Most likely the time it has set on the lot has caused the throttle plate to build up some condenstaion and gunk and when it cant move well it will shut you down and set codes and turn on warning indicators. there most likely going to clean the throttle body and reset the computer and test it or replace the throttle body.
