Hello, I'm Chris, a current Ford Lincoln Mercury employee. Thanks for visiting Just Answer. I will do my very best to help you resolve your concerns by asking questions if needed then suppling a answer. Gaining your TRUST in myself and knowledge is my goal. I try my hardest to respond in a timely matter and I will respond to any reply anytime I am on line..............................................There will be two O2 sensors. One upstream and one downstream. Meaning one on both sides of the catalytic converter. As for location it depends which is bad and if you have a SPI or ZETEC engine.

is it difficult to change them and do i need a special tool? thanks lynn

As stated prior it depends on which engine you have and which sensor is bad as to how long it will take you. To me a ford tech I see neither engines or sensors difficult. You will need a 22mm wrench or equivalant to get the sensor out and in.
