2004 explorer: door ajar switch, interior lights stay on..door panel

This answer was rated:

2004 explorer, need to replace door ajar switch, interior lights stay on. need step to step details on how to remove door panel, especially removal of master switch, etc. more explicit the better. thank you.

These are the clearest instructions you will find. The master switch/housing snaps out after removing the handle bezel anything without screws pictured snaps out and in.

that part was great, how about the actual switch, do I need to take out the door handle mechanism. this is getting over my head. thank you.

If you take the bolts out of the latch and rotate it slightly it should give you enough room to unplug the switch and twist it out of the latch.
