how do i remove the ac condenser from a 1999 windstar 3.8L? The procedure is not the same for 98 and prior years as far as i can tell and thats the only info i have found on the net so far

Below is out of the manual I have,

NOTE: If condenser leak is suspected, leak test condenser before removing it from vehicle.
Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove nuts from peanut fittings and disconnect refrigerant lines from condenser core. Plug openings immediately.
2. Support radiator. Raise vehicle. Remove air deflector attaching bolts. Remove air deflector. Unclip transmission cooler lines. Disconnect auxiliary cooler lines. Remove lower radiator support attaching bolts and remove support. Remove lower radiator support bracket. Remove condenser.
3. To install, reverse removal procedure. If replacing condenser, add 1.5 ounces of refrigerant oil to new condenser. Leak test, evacuate and charge A/C system.

Thanks. will i need the special tool to remove the cooler lines or does the average do it yourselfer toolbag contain something that will work?
You likely will need a tool called a spring lock removal tool, which are available at most auto parts stores and are not very expensive. But I am not positive if the model has these or not.
