  • Have you determined if you are losing fuel or fire to the cylinder?
  • Which cylinder is it?
  • Has the engine ever overheated?
  • Does it have some rattlining noises from under the valve cover?
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
engine is not losing fuel and has not overheated and no rattling noise the guy working on it seems to think its a short in the harness or the computor needs to be reset by ford

Is it just a single cylinder misfire?

Is that one cylinder not getting the spark from the coil?

Is that injector fireing?

Customer: replied 9 years ago.
he said it is running on 4 cylinders, idont know which ones but he said they are not getting spark from the coil , this started as a slight hesitation then for about a week at low rpm then went to stall like it was running very lean but it would run

Since you are losing spark from the coil on 2 cylinders then most likely they are corresponding cylinders on the coil pack. I would make sure 100% the replacement coil is not faulty. If the coil is found ok then you need to follow the wire harness from the coil to the PCM to look for faults. If no wire faults are found then assume you have a coil driver circuit failure in the PCM.

You need a scan tool capable of accessing the ford PCM
