Does your truck have any aftermarket accessories installed, alarm system, remote start etc;?
Customer: replied 9 years ago.
no i doesnt, I did have a amplifier and subwoofer installed that i just took out. i think unhooking the battery to tak that out is what triggered the anti theft

The Ford Pats system uses the PCM module and programable chip keys, just by disconnecting the battery wont cause the module to forget the programing, if the theft light is flashing, the PATs will have to be diagnosed, here are a few things in the pats system that will cause a no start.

The PATS will be activated and will disable the vehicle from starting if there is a:

  • incorrectly encoded ignition key
  • damaged encoded ignition key
  • unprogrammed key
  • non-encoded key (key has no electronics)
  • damaged wiring
  • damaged transceiver
  • damaged PCM
