2001 Ford Focus: water pump..Automatic..I have done small auto repairs

How difficult to replace a 2001 Ford Focus water pump (2.0 DOHC Zetec Automatic)? I have done small auto repairs. Repair shop wants $450, but part is only $50.

It really is not that bad

Water Pump - 2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec)



  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
  1. Loosen the water pump pulley retaining bolts.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05.
  1. Remove the water pump pulley.
  1. Detach the water pump from the water pump housing.
  1. Rotate the water pump 180º within the water pump housing and remove it.
    • Discard the sealing ring
