1998 Ford: p1380 variable cam timing solenoid A fault

This answer was rated:

1998 Ford contour.code p1380 variable cam timing solenoid A fault. P1381 vct over advanced bank 1. P1464 a/c demand out of self test range. Check engine light stays on. vehicle drives and idles ok, occasional miss. Please how do I solve this problem.

The codes 1380 and 1381 one are usual set when you have eaither a bad Variable Cam Acuator or a connection issue at the acuator, Im enclosing the test for you to figure out if this is the case. The ac code is not a good code.

when you ground the bk/rd wire and there is a difference in the running status of the engine, does that mean that the actuator is good?. what do you mean by if it starts out working?.If there is no difference in running condition of engine, what else could we be looking for?.
It likely a bad actuator as the connector, if your back probing it and it changes it working but may be sticking.
