1999 Ford F150: The temperature control on the Heat/Ac does not work

Resolved Question:

I have a 1999 Ford F150. The temperature control on the Heat/Ac does not work. What is the best method for determining the cause? (temp. control switch, blend door actuator, ect)

Is it an EATC electronic climate control system? What doesnt work when you turn the or adjust temperature nothing happens, just blows hot or cold?

It is not an EATC system. Nothing happens when you adjust the temp knob. Sometimes it will switch from hot to cold or vice-versa. This seems to happen when the system is blowing air that is opposite of what the switch is set to. Example: Temp control sitch is on hot, air coming out is cold, then out of the blue is will change to hot. It happens hot to cold and cold to hot, either way.

Sounds like you have a bad temperature blend door actuator. It i slocated at the center bottom of the dash and sits in the bottom of the ac box. You can remove it and cycle the key to on and see if the motor turns when changing for cold to hot.Very common problemReplace the actuator, it looks like below:

There is a black plastic shield in the lower center of the dash above the hump in the floor.Pop out the push pins, unplug the acutaotr and remove the bolts holding it in.Slide it out and slide in the new actuator.
