Customer Question

Often goes off by itself
JA: What is the model/year of your Lincoln?
Customer: 2003 Lincoln Town Car
JA: Are you fixing your Town Car yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: The only thing I have done is to remove my key fob to a place it cannot be used or accidentally set off
JA: Have you checked the fob's battery?
Customer: I have two fobs and I recently put a brand new battery in each
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: The vehicle is never garaged. Usually, when not in use it sits on my driveway.

The problem is one of the door switches, hood switch or trunk switch is setting the alarm off while the vehicle is parked. More than likely it is one of the door switches. Try this. Get a can of spray penetrating oil like WD-40 or PB-Blaster into each door latch and open and close each door up to 20 times and then let the vehicle sit. Also, check the hood switch, which should be mounted on the radiator support and also make sure the trunk is fully closed.
