Customer Question

Need to replace oil pan gasket on 92 lincoln town car.
JA: Is this your first time dealing with this issue? What size is your engine?
Customer: 4.6L V8. It's my mom-in-law's car. Leaking like a sieve.
JA: Are you fixing your Town Car yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes. Nothing, I'm about to start. 1st oil pan gasket, if not too hard, Oil filter adaptor gasket leaks too. Valve guides are bad,
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. Need to know if motor has to come out to get oil pan out.

It is easier to do if you remove the engine. If you are doing it on jack stands with a floor jack, it is easier to do with the engine out. Other wise, you will have to remove the transmission for clearance, and then unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up for the oil pan can clear the oil pump pick up tube.
