have a 2000 lin con with no power to the pump
JA: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?
Customer: have dim power to sopose to be ground wire but none to main pump wire
JA: What is the model of your '00 Lincoln?
Customer: continatal sorry cant spell
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes im. I check for power to pump and the passive system
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: just that like I said the power was dim to the single wire

This fuel pump works off a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal, not an OFF and On signal as in previous model years. Using PWM, the onboard computer (PCM) is able to run the pump at different speeds so there is no need for a fuel pressure regulator.

Proper way to test this system is by using a capable scan tool such as the NGS and a meter that can read frequency in Hertz, but you could eliminate the pump itself as being the culprit by doing the following:

  • first, make sure there is system voltage (more than 11 volts) coming from the inertia switch to the pump module via the White wire.
  • If that voltage is OK, temporarily place a jumper from that White wire to the Black/Yellow wire that carries the signal to the pump - remember you can only do this for a few moments. Leaving the jumper in place will cause damage to the fuel system.
  • If the engine starts and responds to throttle with the module by-passed, then the pump itself is good.
  • Replace the module.
