Customer Question

I have a 2001 Lincoln L Check transmission message comes on and
JA: When was your transmission fluid last checked?
Customer: Code E shows where selector indicator is located
JA: What is the model of your '01 Lincoln?
Customer: LS V8
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Had it at the dealer to check this signal out, theyu wanted to install new transmission. but before I do that I want to verify that it really needs a new trans. this indicator is not on when first starting to drive. after a while it will come on/ Also when I drive on the highway it will shift fine until I stop and then go again. if I turn the car off and restart it is okay for a while
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: right now that I is the main question

Hi im kevin this unfortunatly is pretty common and the valve body in trans fails and breaks up failing to lock tourque converter properly .the reason a new trans is recommended as thes failure fills trans with tiny matal fillings and damages many parts .
