Customer Question

I have a miss sometimes it is not constant just sometimes
JA: What is the model/year of your Lincoln?
Customer: 2007 mark LT
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes , I have changed the fuel filter. It has 60,000 miles on the truck
JA: Is the fuel filter an external one, or is it inside the tank?
Customer: External
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: It doesn't do it all the time just every so often. I may drive it for a 100 miles and not happen or the next time I may drive it 10 miles and it will do it. I don't mind taking it to the dealer but I don't want him to tell me all the coils are bad and then tell me all my injectors need to be changed.

Hello, The symptom you are describing is consistent with an ignition coil going bad. While the one going bad will need to be replaced, the others may be fine. Any technician with a some what advanced scan tool can pinpoint which coil is giving trouble. Another thing to consider is that your vehicle is due to have the spark plugs changed at 60000 miles. I would also recommend having the ignition coil "boots" changed at this time as well as a preventative measure.
