My 2008 Lincoln Navigator engine stalled while driving on e-way. Only 22,000 miles on vehicle. Have Triton V8. When mechanic took valve covers off found metal shavings and "popped valve caps ". Possible problem? They called Ford hot line. Waiting for response.

When you say "popped valve caps" this term does not exist on this engine. Service advisors will sometimes tell you things but they really do not know what the tech is actually talking about.

There is no such term, did they mean lifters, valve springs? valve seats?
