stalls, hard restart stalls

Hello, this can be an issue with water intrusion in the Powertrain control module causing an ETC system fault or PCM failue itself. A diagnostic check for pcm communication and codes stored needs to be done first The throttle body bore should be inspected for carbon buildup around the plate and cleaned especially if the battery was recently disconnected or replaced. Depending on if any codes are stored will lead to several different diagnostic proceedures or possible repair scenarios so I would need to know if any are stored to give you a more specific answer

battery recently went dead...jump started and charged...ran fine 3 days
Sat 5 days and etcfailsafe set after running approx 5 minutes.
disconnected battery, relearned system. restarted and etc failure returned shortly thereafter.
I'm not in a position to pull codes and I read a lot about throttle body failure on these
which is more common pcm or throttle body problems?
Expert:  HDGene replied 1 year ago.

It depends on what codes are stored, if the throttle plate is clean, it can be a throttle position sensor issue or issue failed etc actuator which requires throttle body replacement. Really need to know what codes are stored to know which way to go. If the car will run long enough to get to an auto parts store they will pull codes for free or you can rent or purchase a code reader

will get a code reader and let you know what it says

found a guy with a reader will check and let you know

Ok, sounds like a throttle body failure, especially with tapping on it and stalling. I would replace it and retest
