Lincoln MKZ: , I,m Bob,I have a 2007 MKZ with 128k miles

Customer Question

Hi, I,m Bob,
I have a 2007 MKZ with 128k miles but in stellar condition. When accelerating, not always, and mostly after corner, the right front will begin to have a loud thumping noise. It is consitant in rythem and will stop if I accelerate or stop. Took in to garage and they replaced front right axel(?) but still did it. they say need trany rebuild. What are your thoughts?

More Info,Part replaced was front right intermediate shaft. Not Ford dealer garage. They say they think the splines or gear this inserts to in tranny is bad.Pulsating is very rheymithic, it is not random pulses or thumps.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Meaning the pulses are evenly spaced, almost like TCS or ABS but only on right.

No exactly like TCS or ABS pulsating.

My name is ***** ***** I am a professional here at Just Answer. I noticed that your question was not getting a response and thought I would see if you still need help with this.I apologize for the delay and I hope I can still assist you with this here.
From what you have described here this does sound like an internal transmission mechanical fault causing this issue here.I have seen worn output shaft bearings and spider gears or splines damaged causing this fault. This will need inspected further to locate and repair the cause.
Thanks Pete
