My Pace Master keeps accelerating until it shuts down with a code 31. the buttons don't work to slow it down and the shut off switch doesn't work either.

Its a Proselect. Over the past few weeks, every so often it would slow down a bit, then speed up and shut down with error code 26. I'd just pull the magnetic swith and it would be fine. This would happen during the treadmill running sometimes after a few minutes and sometimes after 20-30 minutes.

Today, it did it again, then when I looked under the hood, wiggled some wires and blew out the dust and now it just acclereates uncontrollable until it shuts down on error code 31.

You need a new Motor control board

Being that old it may be more cost effective to look into a new machine. Treads usually last about 8-10 years

If you can find one under 300$ I would maybe do it but I would not invest a ton
