huvster : to remove the cover there should be some screws at the front and some from underneath
huvster : lay it on its side to get the last two or 3
huvster : I would also replace the drive belt as well

I've looked and I don't see any screws. There's a mid-size allen head bolt on the side that looks like it goes through the upright handle bracket and possibly through the side of the hood. I have not turned the treadmill over yet to see what's underneath.

Second part of my response: The noise seems to surge and then ebb. When you're talking about replacing the belt, do you mean the belt attached to the motor?

Third part of my response: I need someone to tell me exactly how to remove the hood from the C1900 NordicTrack treadmill I have, i.e., where are the screws, etc. Thanks.
huvster : Turn it on its side, there should be two or 3 small screw size holes near the front roller. Take a Phillips screwdriver and take all the screws out and the motor cover will come off
huvster : The drive belt is the small belt from the motor
huvster : If there is a lot of black looking dust replace it, if not then it should be ok
huvster : you can roll the drive belt off The pulleys and run the machine to know where the sound is for sure
huvster : it may be a bad front roller, once you pop the belt off you will know
