On the barrel it reads "Police Positive Special/38 Special CTS.

Ok great. So,that gun was made in 2 different calibers that sometimes confuse people. If the gun says .38 Special, or .38 Spl, than it is the .38 Special caliber. The gun was also offered in a .38 New Police caliber.
