Good afternoon,

Here's the instructions.....is this different than what you tried?

1. To unlock and open

Before dialing your combination, simply insert the key

(if equipped) in the lock and turn until the plunger

pops out. Remove key.

NOTE: The safe will lock if key lock cylinder is pressed

in with or without key.

A. Start the dial at zero.

B.

Turn the dial to the right. Make sure ZERO

passes the pointer at least THREE times. Then stop

at the first number of your combination.

C.

Turn the dial to the left. Stop the SECOND

time you reach the second number of your

combination.

D.

Turn the dial to the right. Stop the FIRST

time the pointer reaches the third number of your

combination.

Many (most) Sentry safes use some very poor crafted parts internally....like pot metal. Sometimes, they just get worn out.

sorry, just got off phone with Sentry. the manual you downloaded is not the original and in fact the instructions are. after unlocking plunger, you set dial to 0, then go left and pass first number in combo 2x and land on that number on third turn, then you go right and pass second number once and stop on it on second turn, the left and land on third number
Firearms Expert: ProShooter, Firearms Instructor replied 1 year ago

Well, I'm glad that they gave you the new info. That set of instructions I got was from their own website....
