If no photos, I'll need more information: Pump shotgun, over/under, side-by-side, semi-automatic, or single-shot break open? On the markings you are unsure of, rubbing them with chalk should help make them more legible.Philip

There were quite a few different shotguns used by the U.S. Military. Does your gun have an exposed hammer?
Is there a heat shield on the barrel? What is the barrel length?
