It's my understanding that although my IRA is marital property, I can "reduce" the value of the IRA and therefore the amount that I would have to give my spouse in a divorce by the present-day value of the premarital funds that eventually went into the IRA. My question is: Is the present-day value of those premarital funds determined by inflation alone or by inflation plus the value of those funds had they been invested?

    We are in escrow purchasing a winery. We are waiting for ABC to confirm our license transfer. This process has been taking a while. We are going to be charging a wine club release which will bill 20K. We would like to be able to legally receive those funds but are concerned that if the transfer isn’t official we may miss the opportunity to receive that income.
    At this point ABC has all documentation and we have a conditional license. Once the license transfers we can close escrow and take control of the business. If the transfer is delayed are there any methods to legally be able to receive income from wine sales at the club release?
