Had a question about taxes... Not yet... Well just wanted to
well just wanted to find out about a EIPP (Enhanced Incentive Package) offer from Verizon which I accepted. I lived in New York City when I worked for Verizon. The offer ($77,000), aside from my pension meant that I would be off of Vz payroll December 21, 2019. I moved to Tampa December 16th, 2019 after taking some personally days I had left. I notify Verizon well in advance of me moving and they updated their records on December 27th, 2019. With this package, I am to receive a one time partial lump sum ($27,000), which I did on January 10th, 2020 and the rest of the EIPP payments would be spread out monthly over a 4 year span. However, aside from the U.S. government, I noticed that New York City & New York State took out taxes totaling over $3,800! My question is A) Are they (NY) allowed to do that being that I am a Florida resident since before the new year...and B) Are my monthly payments from this enhanced package going to subjected to NY taxes?… read more
