Seeking guidance re Uncontested Divorce. I have questions
I have questions regarding ‘non-contested' divorce paperwork from husband which he wants me to sign & return. I just want to make everything is ok before I sign anything. He is in NJ & so filing is in NJ.My main concern is whether I will be able to claim any of his Social Security benefits? I was a stay at home mom (4 children) & would also work at his office (without pay). What I want to make sure of is that by signing this, am I giving up any rights to claim any of his Social Security benefits? Also, I apparently cannot claim these benefits until he is 65, so that will mean I will be 71 (I am 63 now & he is 57).Am I entitled to any of the disability he receives? Do I need to ask Social Security about any claims to his benefits? … read more
