Trying to find out how to handle a 16 almost 17 year old who wants to stay with friend's family because they don't want to change schools. We live in NC

Lawyer's Assistant: Because education law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?

NC

Lawyer's Assistant: Have you talked to a lawyer yet?

This conversation just happened last night

Lawyer's Assistant: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?

My husband and I are filing divorce papers on April 2nd. We have joint custody. Ex and son fight constantly, I'm in the process of moving. I agreed to let him stay with the friend for 2 weeks so I didn't have to change his school then change it two weeks later.

if I use the POA, I won't need to worry about Child Protective Services or the law coming after me?

No , since the child is almost grown this would deal with this. You can revoke it if it doesn't work out for some reason.
