An initial investigation must be closed within 30 days of the initial report.
If there are grounds to pursue, then a final resolution must be provided within 12 months, but can be extended for 12 months upon the request of either the parent or the department.

If subsequent allegations are made, the department has a duty to investigate.
If a child is removed, an emergency hearing will be held within 24 hours;
The adversarial hearing will be held within 14 days.
