My california divorce decree which was finalized in 1997

Customer Question

my california divorce decree which was finalized in 1997 required that my ex husband let me remain beneficiary of his life insurance. He died in September 2016 and did not pay the premiums for the last 2 years of his life. I learned that he had passed in October 2016 and the policy has been substantially reduced. What can I do to collect the original of insurance policy?
JA: Because family law varies from place to place, can you tell me what state this is in?
Customer: California
JA: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: The final decree was June 1997
JA: Anything else you want the lawyer to know before I connect you?
Customer: I don't know what else to ask

You can file lawsuit against his estate if his estate has any asset. Otherwise, you are out of luck.

You may retain the services of a local Attorney who handles probate litigation to assist you with the case.
