A judgment issued in a MI court is valid for 10 years, but at any time before that 10 years expires the party who has the judgment may file in court to renew that judgment and the judgment will be renewed for another 10 years. If the judgment expires, then the person can no longer seek to collect on that judgment unless it was renewed prior to the expiration date.
