Do I need to terminate my California Domestic Partnership in order to now get married to the same person or do we merely apply for a marriage licence and it will superceed the domestic partnership?
Hello. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will be happy to answer your question.

According to California law, parties who are registered as domestic partners and then decide to get married to each other do not need to dissolve their domestic partnership and legally both can exist simulatneously, as long as, it is the same couple that has declared domestic partnership and subsequently got married and in case of a break up the same couple can petition to the court to dissolve the marriage and domestic partnership in a single court proceeding.

I wish you the best of luck!
