I believe I answered this earlier this morning. What I said was the general rule is 3 years but if there is a specific reason why older records are being requested then the other party can ask for those. Most people do not keep records much beyond the 3 years since that is the period used by the IRS for audits. If you did not receive my first answer or you have more questions please let me know.
