In divorce for dummies, chapter 13, finding an attorney! It states that clients are responsible for following an attorneys directives. Surely that doesnt mean I have to follow all his advice? So what does it mean?

You are correct, you are not required to follow all of your attorney's advice.

I am unsure exactly what the book means by this statement.

The attorney is required to proceed with the case at your directive

FamilyAttorneyPA :

However, attorneys may agree to certain things, such as a continuance requested by the other attorney, if it does not prejudice the client or the case.
