Does my bonus check count when calculating my child support

Customer Question

Does my bonus check count when calculating my child support owed?

Thank you for your question.

The answer is "yes", your bonus check is deemed to be part of your annual earnings and income, and therefore is included in the calculations. You can claim that since this was not an expected bonus, you are not able to ensure that subsequent years will be profitable, but the courts will still likely use the amounts to properly calculate your possible obligation for support.

Good luck.

I see that you have listed my answer as "inaccurate". Regardless of your wishes, my answer is perfectly correct based on law in all 50 states, including Washington. ALL states include bonuses as part of income.

Good luck.
