No I just need a basic idea of what it may be and if steroid drops etc are needed
Eye Doctor: Dr. Arun Phophalia, Doctor (non-eye specialty) replied 3 months ago

Your symptoms are suggestive of bacterial conjunctivitis.

Ideally you should get an eye swab (culture test). It confirms the bacterial infection and also tells the most efficacious antibiotic drop for the treatment.

Meanwhile you may ask your doctor to prescribe you another antibiotic drop, as chloramphenicol is not working/effective.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

Thanks for using Just Answer.

Does conjuctivitis cause the eyelid to peel
Eye Doctor: Dr. Arun Phophalia, Doctor (non-eye specialty) replied 3 months ago

Conjunctiva is inner lining of the eyelids.

A severe infection can cause peeling of it.

It is privilege assisting you.

How long will it take to clear. Can it be allergic conjunctivitis?
Eye Doctor: Dr. Arun Phophalia, Doctor (non-eye specialty) replied 3 months ago

Allergic conjunctivitis would not cause pus formation, so this would be very unusual symptom.

With a sensitive antibiotic, it should clear in 5-7 days.
