Customer Question

I had chalazia surgery Friday morning, nearly five days ago, and my eyelid is very red, swollen, and unsightly. It looks much worse than before the surgery. Why?

After a simple chlazion surgery, most of the healing takes place in the first 48 hours or 2 days. If the swelling has increased from before, then you might be having either an infection of a bleed in that area. An infection will need a course of antibiotics, while a bleed usually resolves on its own. I would advise you to go back to your eye surgeon for a repeat examination.
