I have had floaters for years but this evening I began

Customer Question

I have had floaters for years but this evening I began experiencing vertical white street's in my left eye. They are brief but repeat every 30 seconds or so. I had a comprehensive eye exam about two months a g o. I am 67 and have worn glasses for at least 60 years.
JA: When was the last time you had your eyes checked? In general, how has your vision been lately?
Customer: Except for a 3/4 inch floater in my right eye it has been pretty normal for me. I got new glasses 2 months ago but have misplaced them so am wearing old ones
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I have hypertension gerd and elevated cholesterol but all are.

This is Dr. David

verticle white streeks can be a sign of macular degeneration

but your doctors have checked your eyes and checked your retina 2 months ago

and found no evidence of macular degeneration.

most eye floaters are benign.

mucus or hair or changes of your focal point can cause you to see small or larger floaters in your visual field.

after climbing stairs, you can have drops in your blood pressure or drops in blood glucose levels which can cause changes in vision or floaters

have you had your blood pressures and glucose levels checked after exertion?

I see.

you may need some heart and lung testing to make sure they are working ok.

these floats and streeks can still be benign and may not point to serious problem.
