My 11 year old son Bankhead his head on the side of the pool

Customer Question

My 11 year old son Bankhead his head on the side of the pool Tuesday- today he is complaining of a headache - no dizziness or nausea - not sure if it's dehydration from the heat today or related to Tuesday? What should I look out for?

This is Dr. David

you should look for lethargy, not wanting to play or eat, excessive sleepiness

best to bring him to the ER and have him evaluated by a doctor

if he is dehydrated, they can give him IV fluids at the ER

you don't want to miss a rare subdural bleed in the brain from head trauma.

do you have an ER or hospital close to you where you can bring him for evaluation?
