We are in Costa Rica and both my daughter and I have swollen

Customer Question

We are in Costa Rica and both my daughter and I have swollen eyes
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: We originally thought we had swelling from sunburn, but it just keeps getting worse. My daughters one eye is almost swollen shut and my lids are drooping. We also were in the ocean and went zip lining where it was rather dusty
JA: OK got it. Last thing — Eye Doctors generally expect a deposit of about $18 to help with your type of question (you only pay if satisfied). Now I'm going to take you to a page to place a secure deposit with JustAnswer. Don't worry, this chat is saved. After that, we will finish helping you.

I am not impressed thus far, they said I needed to talk to a dog bet. I am refusing to pay for this service that I really thought would be helpful

this is Dr. David

I am sorry for the delay

there seems to be no doctors in the eye category. the question was moved over to the general medicine category.

zip lining through a dusty area can introduce dust or sand or particles into the eye and cause severe allergy and trauma to the cornea.

you should be using cold compresses on the eyes

and trying to wash them out with cold bottled water.

you can try benadryl orally to see if that helps reduce allergic inflammation in the eye.

do you have any benadryl on you?

you really should cut the vacation short and get back to home and see an eye doctor .

where you do you live?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not able to talk on the phone. We are headed home tomorrow and are already taking meds equivilent to Benadryl here.

We are from Wisconsin and will be home by tomorrow evening, heading right to the doctor

cold packs and cold towels on the eyes.

rinse out eyes with bottled water.

diphenhydratmine is generic of benadryl.

let me know if you have other questions.

We are taking 10mg of loratadina genfar, which is there version of an anihistimine
Expert:  Dr. David replied 1 year ago.

this is loratadine which is basically claritin which is safe

but may not be as good of an anti-histamine as benadryl or diphenhydramine

dephenhydramine dose can be increased up higher up to 300mg a day safely for severe allergic reactions.
