All of a sudden after drinking alcohol, the bottom right

Customer Question

All of a sudden after drinking alcohol, the bottom right side of my right eye turns red and it hurts to move or focus on close objects. I'm a social drinker and only drink maybe 4 to 6 times a month (i.e. wine, brown liquor such as jack daniels or hennessy). The redness eventually goes away after a week, even if I take a benadryl. I'm 33 and this started occurring about a 1.5 yrs ago. Please advise.

This might indicate that after drinking your blood pressure shoots up, and is having an effect on the small vessels in the eye, or even large vessels.

You need to see an opthalmologist.

You need to assess your blood pressure if you drink again.
