This is Dr. David

it sounds like you could have a viral or bacterial conjunctivitis infection of the eye.

this is an infection which can cause tearing and crusting and mucus production in the eye

it is also called pink eye as well

you should use warm compresses like a warm wet towel on the eye to help remove some of the crusting

make sure you wash your hands frequently with soap and water before and after touching your eye, conjunctivitis is very contagious.

you should see a doctor and see if you need antibiotic eye drops

let me know if you have questions.
