It felt bad last night as I said. I tried to flush it out several times, but by 4am I got tired and went to bed. I can feel nothing in there now, and my left and right eyes look jut about the same

From what you have reported, however, it sounds like a viral pink eye type of reaction. Red eyes associated with a cold usually do not require treatment. They will go away on their own in about 7 days. You should take careful precaution to avoid spreading the problem. If you note blurred vision, strong pain, or yellow discharge then you should seek care from your eye care provider. Otherwise, you can use artificial tears 4 times daily (such as Systane or Blink) which are obtained over the counter.
