I have a swollen spot right on the edge of my iris, the surrounding white is pink with red veins. Sometimes, especially in the mornings, the eye feels very sore. I've had this happen before in the same eye, about three months ago and then a year before that, but it was in a different hemisphere. The eye does not itch, but it is sore and noticably red as people point it out to me often. It has been around four days now and only one day has there been any dicharge to speak of.

Based on the location you have described it sounds like a pinguecula which is an elevated lesion of the white part of the eye. Pingueculas have been associated with exposure to sunlight and are benign. They can become inflamed on occasion. I suspect that is to blame here.

You can use artificial tears or even allergy drops. I recommend Systane or Blink brand artificial tears and Zaditor or Alaway for the allergy drop. Use the tears 4 times daily and/or the allergy drops twice daily.
