Given the fact that the redness has been persistent for 5 days and your daughter is feeling some discomfort, the possibilities are -
- a minor injury to the eye
- a foreign body like dust particle/small part of insect etc stuck in the eye
- an inflammation of the white portion or sclera of the eye
- allergic reaction (should be usually present in both the eyes)
- an infection or pink eye
Ideally, she needs to be evaluated by an Ophthalmologist. In the meantime, continue using visine eye drops and also use lubricating eye drops like refresh tears/optive/genteal etc (available over the counter).
