Resolved Question:

i work looking at the computer 8 hours a day some days, however my vision is fine. But I wonder if there are glare glasses that I should get just to have some 'insurance' for my eyesight as I am sure staring at the screen for such long time can be bad.

Dr. PG :

working on long time on computers without break can cause some eye strain

Dr. PG :

also in chronic computer users there ca occur dryness of eyes over time

Dr. PG :

the symptoms are worsened if the lighting is poor or you are sittiing not properly

Dr. PG :

there are some guidelines to follow while working on computers

Dr. PG :

Take a break after every 11/2 to 2 hours. Get up from the workstation and walk 20
paces one side and 20 paces the other side. Sit on your chair and close eyes for 3-
4 minutes.

Dr. PG :

Consciously blink your eyes more frequently as the blink rate is reduced with
continuous work on computers causing dryness.

Dr. PG :

use lubricating eye drops like refresh tears/genteal/optive etc in routine.

Dr. PG :

these are available over the counter

Dr. PG :

Eliminate glare and screen reflections by moving or tilting the computer or getting
an anti-glare screen.

Dr. PG :

if you want to use, you ca use plain glasses

Dr. PG :

but if your lighting is good and you take breaks in between, you should not need glasses

Dr. PG :

hope this information is helpful
