Dr. Rick :

Hi. I'm online and happy to answer your question today.

Dr. Rick :

are you available to chat?

Dr. Rick :

do you have access to a digital camera that can upload the picture to your computer?

Customer:

no i don't have a camera.

Dr. Rick :

ok. Does your babies eyes look otherwise normal?

Customer:

yes it looks very normal.

Dr. Rick :

Where is this vein? Is it on the lid, the cheek, just under the lid etc?

Customer:

under her eyelid just below her eye.

Dr. Rick :

Ok. The most common cause of this is a superficial artery or vein that is just a little bit closer to the skin surface then normal. As your baby gets older this should resolve without any problems.

Dr. Rick :

Just to be complete I would point it out to your pediatrician on the next visit....but I believe everything will be OK

Customer:

okay i was a little worried i can see it sometimes and at other times i can't.

Dr. Rick :

that makes sense. It would be more visible when the baby cries etc....BP goes up. Nothing to worry about...

Customer:

yes it does whenever she cries it's a little more visible.

Dr. Rick :

Ok. Have a great day.

Dr. Rick :
