It appears that she has ruptured one or more of the tiny blood vessels on the white part of her eye (conjunctiva). This subconjunctival bleed is not harmful. It could have happened from unintentional rubbing from eye irritation. This is common, and not likely related to her retinitis pigmentosa. It will resolved with time within 2 weeks, but to make it resolve faster, I suggest that she use preservative free tear drops such as Refresh or Genteal drops 4 times daily. In the meantime, I suggest that she consider a regular routine follow-up with her doctor for closer evaluation of the back of her eyes.
