Since you feel that it does not look like a stye (which is usually more pustular and infected), you may have what is called a chalazion.

A chalazion can develop on the upper or lower lid. It is a blocked tear gland and begins with redness and swelling and then becomes a rubbery nodular like bump.

Warm compresses are the initial treatment for these but if not helpful, you will need to see an ophthamologist for drainage.

This article gives very good information about chalazions for you.

If you have any other questions, let me know. You need to see a doctor right away if you develop increasing pain, difficulty with your vision, redness spreading on the skin or the development of fever.
