What part of the eyeball are you referring to? What whites of the eye turning blue? or near the cornea (clear covering over the colored part)?

What you are describing is likely an arcus senilis. See the picture below. It is usually a white coloration, but can be blue in appearance as well. This is a common finding in older people which consists of calcium and cholesterol deposists. It generally is not a sign of other problem and nothing to worry about.

If it occurs on one side only or in young peolple, then additional blood work may be beneficial.
