Last night my left eye was itching a little, so i rubbed it

Customer Question

Last night my left eye was itching a little, so i rubbed it but not too much. then this morning, about 2 hours after waking up, i thought i had an eyelash in my eye so I went to get it out and noticed the white part around my eye was bloodshot... kinda looked like pink eye. so i put some ZADITOR eye drop in my eye and went to work. Well, as the day went on, my eye got redder and my eyeball swelled. My left eyeball is now bulging out a little and swollen. What could this possibly be and what can i do to make it go down?

Hi, My eye doesn't hurt and my vision seems normal. I have been using an eye lubricant today so it is only foggy when that is in there until it clears. I'm pretty healthy aside from that. I have been getting swollen ankles since last Monday (my job requires me to stand all day). The only medical condition I have is a Protein S deficiency. Other than that, I do not have any major medical conditions. If it helps, I thought it was possibly pink eye (however, a pharmacist confirmed it is not). My friend's daughter has the same symptoms and hers started a week ago so thought it might be something contagious or could be coincidence. I haven't had any crust or watering of my eye last night or today. It literally came out of nowhere. OH also wanted to mention, i had an eye exam in March of this year and at that time, everything was normal.

Thank you. I will try some benadryl tonight and if it doesn't go down by morning, then I will get some prednisone and try that. Thanks! and if it works, I'll accept... otherwise, I will ask some more questions if any new symptoms arise.

Also try the cool compresses. Good luck
