Hello there
how long have they been puffy and sore? do you suffer from nasal allergies (runny nose, sneezing)? Do your eyes build up sticky substance along the lashes?   Have you tried anything? Now, tell me about the spots? are they dark? do they move around? are you getting flashing lights?   your age?

I am 57 years old. and yes I do have allergies. Nothing sticky around my lashes. I am conjested have been since around July 4th weekend.

I would describe the spots float around not flashing. black spots as far as I can tell.

hello there
as I suspected, your symptoms are consistent with ocular allergies. Best thing is to purchase some stuff called Zaditor (over the counter) and use it two times daily.   Claritin 10mg daily will also provide lots of relief.   Cool compresses work wonders for immediate soothing. This regimen will help after several days and can be stopped after 2-3 weeks. The black floaters are imperfections in the back of teh eye and can be a sign of something serious, but if they have been there a while, they typically are not worrisome. I suggest that you go to an ER if you ever experience a sudden increase in their quality or quantity or experience flashes of light or visual changes, I wish you well Dr. Stevens
